Walk On! Challenge for Fifth Graders
Calling Arizona Fifth-Graders!
The 2010 Walk On! Challenge is challenging fifth-graders across Arizona to exercise for
60 minutes per day each day during the month of February. The idea is to inform kids
like you about the benefits of exercise and inspire you to get
moving for at least 60 minutes every day.
To do it, we need you to accept the challenge. The Walk On! program is implemented in
fifth-grade classrooms and relies on teachers and their students alike.
To participate, you have a few options:
-
If you’re in fifth grade and want to participate in the Walk On! Challenge, ask
your teacher to visit this Web site and order a brochure kit today.
-
If you’re in fifth grade and want to participate in the Walk On! Challenge, but
the deadline to order brochure kits has passed, that’s OK. We still want you to
accept the challenge. Ask your teacher to download a copy of the Walk On! Challenge
brochure from this Web site. Photocopies work just as well!
-
If you’re not in fifth grade, but still want to accept the challenge, download
the Walk On! Challenge brochure from this Web site and start moving. Track your
minutes of exercise, aiming for 60 minutes per day. If you participate in the
program, but you’re not in a participating fifth-grade class*,
you are not eligible for the prizes.
Need a little motivation to keep you going? Every fifth-grader in a participating fifth-grade
class who completes the Challenge will receive a popular drawstring backpack. And that’s
not all. Kids in participating fifth-grade classrooms who complete the whole challenge
and submit their results will be eligible to win prizes such as
40 iPod® shuffles and five Wii™ Fit consoles.
*A participating fifth-grade class is defined as a classroom with a teacher who
signed up to participate in the Walk On! Challenge and is including it as part
of regular classroom curriculum. Teacher submits results of the Challenge
for the classroom.
